25 weeks!

How Far Along: 25 weeks

Maternity Clothes: Yes! I'm also having to borrow Ryan's tshirts to sleep in and wear around the house! It's so nice not to feel like a roly poly squeezed in a tiny tshirt!

Sleep: doing better, but considering it's 330 in the am and I'm wide awake makes me unsure. We are at camp with our fifth graders and I got to bed a little earlier than normal. I'm hoping some blogging will be therapeutic and put Vann and I back to sleep soon!

Best Moment this week: 1. My fifth graders finishing their CRCT! That is an amazing feeling knowing that there's a bit more time for celebration and unique activities! 2. Our doctor's appointment went terrific! Vann is measuring wonderfully and his heartbeat sounds like music to our ears! Our next appointment will be a 3D! 3. Some really cool answers to prayers have been happening, and I'm praying for God's will and guidance! 4. Ryan and I headed to downtown Athens on Saturday to catch the Terrapin Twilight. The rain held off and we enjoyed our annual event with great friends and good food!

Food Cravings: nothing major!

How’s Mama? I can't complain! Life is good! I'm feeling better now that the nursery is looking more like a nursery. It's a weird feeling to walk by our old guest room and see a crib. I LOVE it!

What I am looking forward to: I can't wait to start our birthing classes! I'm ready to get my mindset and start focusing on having Vann! He has to come out someday! I can't wait to see the 3D ultrasound!! Wonder who he'll resemble - Ryan or me?

Our Baby in Veggie/Fruit Terms: Vann is around the size of an eggplant! He's continuing to grow - the proof is my belly that my students point out. "Wow, you're getting big!" I remind them it's Vann growing! He is a kicking machine and I love it. What a little stinker he was being. I kept trying to capture his kicks on camera, and anytime the camera would come on he'd stop! This changed on Saturday morning!! I finally got a video of his strong kicks! My belly reminds me of a dodge ball.

Vann Hudson, you are so cool little man! Thank you for blessing us with your life. We are so excited to love and hug on you in a bit more than three months. I can't wait until you start hearing about God's plan for your life. You're going to be a part of something huge!

24 Weeks ... August is coming quick!

Highlights: Week 24

How Far Along: 24 weeks + 1 day

Maternity Clothes: I am definitely enjoying the way they accentuate this bump. Without maternity clothes my shirts are extremely short and not flattering at all! My pants are done zipping! I found some lounge clothes at Motherhood Maternity after school today. I'm thankful that people create clothes to help make this time a bit more beautiful!

Sleep: I'm still using my Boppy Wedge. We have been walking nearly every night, so that's helped alleviate any back aches!

Best Moment this week: I would say nearly every day has been great! It's so nice having Ryan here and not working late hours. I am so proud of him, but man I missed him. Saturday was a day of organization! Is it too early to begin nesting, because I may have a touch of it? Sunday night we walked down to the pond to fish with Daddy. Lyla took a little dip as well. I went out to eat with Mom and Dad, too. It was fun to just talk and spend time with them! Dad and Greg came over on Monday and started the first step of painting our garage floor. Thankful doesn't even say enough when it comes to all that they have done for us. Whenever Dad has a free second and some extra paint he uses it on our house. AWESOME. We love you Daddy!

Food Cravings: I am eating as healthy as I can. Ryan started a challenge and it's been a nice way to keep me on track as well!

How’s Mama? Happy. Happy. Happy. I am really enjoying pregnancy and feeling Vann flip and twist all around. God is great and a miracle worker for sure!

What I am looking forward to: Of course meeting Vann in 16 weeks! He was bee-bopping all around last night and I told Ryan that he wanted to come out and play. Ryno didn't like that I said that since he said Vann needs to stay in until he is big enough! Protective Daddy is right; I totally agree.

Our Baby in Veggie/Fruit Terms: Vann is around the size of a canteloupe!

Vann Hudson, we have a doctor's appointment tomorrow! Your heartbeat is like music to our ears! We love to see and feel you kick! I hope you like mama's singing since you kick so much when I do! You are a miracle and loved!

5 Month Update!

Highlights: Week 23

How Far Along: 23 weeks + 1 day

Maternity Clothes: I love them. I mean, if I designed them I would put them at reasonable prices and make them a little bit more stylish, but they are definitely more flattering and comfy!

Sleep: Doing well this week! After planting flowers on Saturday, I was exhausted and slept like a baby!

Best Moment this week: I definitely had plenty, but one would have to be that the Dossinator is HOME and tax season is OVER! Woo hoo! I love having him here when it's daylight. Tonight we enjoyed a great walk. It's the first of many! It helps I got a new workout outfit...much needed!

Mom and I went to Target and Babies R Us. I had her help me narrow down what we registered for (using her "mom" common sense)! It worked. We were out of there and registered. Ryan loved that he didn't have to walk around with one of those guns and scan stuff. I think he was scarred when we did our wedding registry. I am most excited about the travel system (stroller with car-seat). I love how easy it is to open and close and SUPER light! :)

I loved spending time on Saturday planting flowers with Ryan. We made a trip to the garden center at Home Depot. So far all of the flowers are still alive! Wish us luck! These HOT temps in GA don't make it easy!

Food Cravings: Not anything crazy this week. Still loving the pickles, but not eating as many for sure!

How’s Mama? Lovely! I am just blossoming away...like a COW! Haha! People are beginning to notice the belly for sure. My fifth graders (some) like to rub it and wave goodbye to Vann before leaving school. Erin and I treated ourselves to a visit to the nail salon. This is a rarity in my book (maybe 3-4 times a year), so it was nice to sit back and enjoy a pedicure. My nail tech was curious if I was expecting, so she rubbed her belly and looked at me questioningly. I nodded and then she asked how far I was. :)

I am doing a lot of researching, asking friends, and reading about natural labor, nursing, and stretches. My lower abdomen was stretching soooo much yesterday. I went in Colleen's classroom and did some little moves to relieve them. It didn't work, but I am thankful that she's so supportive!

What I am looking forward to: I am really excited about my pregnant friends, hearing about their pregnancies, and meeting their babies!
It's getting super real when I feel Vann move so much. We can't wait to meet him (we totally understand he needs to stay in the oven as long as he can)! When he comes our lives will forever change in the best way! :)

Our Baby in Veggie/Fruit Terms: Vann is around the size of a grapefruit!
  • His face is fully formed now -- he just needs a little extra fat to fill it out.
  • He's listening to my voice and heartbeat -- and even to loud sounds like cars honking and dogs barking.

Vann Hudson, 17 weeks are sure to fly by until we see you! Enjoy your snuggle time! Daddy and I will continue praying for your safety, healthy development, and future with us. God has blessed us with you!

Week 22

Highlights: Week 22

How Far Along: 22 weeks + 1 day

Total Weight Gain/Loss:
not counting until I go back to the doctor... :)

Maternity Clothes: Yes. And that's all I need to say. The belly is a-stretchin'.

Sleep: Getting a bit more difficult. I wake up at random times and can't go back to sleep for about 30 minutes. This has never been an issue, and I don't want to start now!
I'm still cuddling up to my Boppy Wedge pillow. Thankful that it's not a big pillow that takes up the entire bed, and it's easy to slide around.

Best Moment this week: Seeing Vann kick from the outside. I was reading on the beach, he would kick, and my book that was balancing on my belly would pop up a bit. Mom and I would watch as he kicked around!

Food Cravings: This week it was shrimp and grits. I was at the beach with mama and finally had them our last night there. It was completely worth it and I enjoyed every bite.

How’s Mama? I am doing great! I can't complain...except for the back aches...having to run to the restroom every hour or less...and feeling like I am out of breath in the morning while I am getting ready! Haha, no really! I LOVE BEING PREGNANT and wouldn't trade any of those things because they are what will bring Vann Hudson into this world. They make me love him even more.

Prego brain has happened once or twice I am sure, but I really felt it yesterday! I came out of Publix, went to punch in the code to my car, and ... ... ... the code had escaped my brain. I could remember the numbers, but I never could punch them in the right combo. Are you KIDDING? I had my keys, unlocked the door, unloaded groceries, and put the buggy up racking my brain. On the walk back to climb in my car, I tried one more time... thank GOD it was right. It was the strangest feeling. My brain had been mush. Let's hope that's not too regular. It's not like I have the best memory to begin with!

What I am looking forward to: Last night I didn't blog about week 22 because I was in a nursery design trance. I have gone from 3 different ideas and my brain keeps circling them. I found an awesome little company and they are out of GA! I played around with their interactive design tool for bedding. Tonight, my goal is to come up with three favorites and let Ryan choose the final one. It's worked with everything else, so hopefully a decision will be made! I can't wait to have the nursery finished and prepared!

Our Baby in Veggie/Fruit Terms: Vann is around the size of a papaya/spaghetti squash! How cool. In the next 4 weeks his weight will double making him around 2 lbs.
  • Now that he's got more developed eyes and lips, he's looking even more like a newborn.
  • He's sleeping in cycles -- about 12 to 14 hours per day.

I love you little man! Your daddy loves feeling you bump all around! Tax season is almost over but who's counting...THIS MAMA! We can focus on getting prepared for you and enjoying each other's company.

Our happy place!

**some of this post was written at the beach and some at home...forgive me for switching from past and present tense**

Mom and I are enjoying our happy place..the beach! We are both reading, relaxing, and getting some sun!

We arrived on Wednesday to be greeted with rain, but like the song says ... Rain is a good thing. It gave us time to buy groceries, a couple other things, and let up enough for a walk on the beach!

Thursday was a rain-free day, but cloudy until late afternoon! We did enjoy sitting out on the beach after an adventurous morning. We headed over to Baytowne Wharf to visit one of Mom's sweet college friends who is down now as well with three of her children! We enjoyed brunch at Another Broken Egg cafe and hung out with Becky! The beach wasn't too crowded, so we found a spot and relaxed. We decided on a little restaurant some of us had been to last time we were down. It didn't disappoint and the wait was short!!

On Friday we grabbed lunch on the beach at The Back Porch! Shrimp and scallops were super delicious and we got to sit on the back porch deck with heaters to protect us from the cold weather. It was fun and relaxing for sure!
After this meal...the sun peeked out for a bit and we decided to go to the beach. Not pictured is us in our jackets and yoga pants with our hoods on to protect us from the wind! haha!

On Saturday the weather was glorious! Where had it been all of our lives this week!?  We soaked up every ray... maybe a bit too much. We got a little sunburn, but we were sure it would turn tan. We could live with the consequences for today!

I love spending time with my mama. There's no one like her, and I am thankful for her sweet spirit. We have a blast just being ourselves and enjoying the present.

On the last night we rode over to Seaside thinking we'd enjoy one of the restaurants there, but we decided that we didn't want to wait. So, we rode back over to Destin after calling Bubba Gumps (I knew they'd have the shrimp I'd been craving...Forrest is famous for his shrimp) and finding there was NO wait! Before we left Seaside though, some pictures of the sunset happened. It was divine timing for sure!

You can't make things up like that sunset! Man, it's gorgeous!

After our trip around the panhandle in search of a restaurant and finally going to our original place we had in mind... this is what was smack-dab in the middle of the table. "It's funny how things work out." ... to say the least!  Thanks Forrest!

We had a great trip and woke up early to head back to our families! Before we left, some pictures were snapped on the balcony and a yummy breakfast was enjoyed!  Thank God for a safe trip and a beautiful memory with my mom! I wouldn't change a thing except for the sunshine peeking through a bit more!

Vann has been baking for 21 weeks!

We are so excited to make it to the halfway point. Now, only 19 weeks left until we get to see our little Vann Hudson! Who's ready? Not sure who is more excited!

Highlights: Week 21

How Far Along: 21 weeks + 1 day

Total Weight Gain/Loss:
12 lbs

Maternity Clothes: Motherhood Maternity had a little sale on their short sleeve v-neck tees! That's one thing that I love to wear in the spring, and let's face it...mine from last spring aren't fitting! So, had a little moment of weakness and bought 4 shirts! I love them, and it may be all I wear (with pants of course) for this pregnancy. I should get 3 more...one for each day of the week!

Sleep: I could sleep anywhere...it's bad! If I sat still before I was preggers this happened anyways, but now it's so much quicker! If I could change one thing it would be having a full 7 hours of sleep  and not waking up to have my bladder full again.

Best Moment this week: It was a good week! I loved hanging out with my small group on Friday night at the Good Friday service. Our church ROCKS!

On Saturday, I enjoyed hanging with Danielle, Jon, and Baby Jase to take their maternity pics! They are always a ton of fun and sweet smiles! Jase, if you are anything like your parents you will be AMAZING!

Sunday was a fabulous Easter. I was hit with God's gift of His son and the heartache that Mary must have felt watching her son die an agonizing death that I can't even fathom. Her heart had to be shattered for those three days. I haven't even held Vann in our arms and I am completely in love. Easter has my heart and is my favorite "holy"day the older I get. There's NO greater gift than Jesus.

Yesterday, I had a lunch date with Daddy Dossinator! It was at the top of my list. He is the best! So grateful for my hubby!

Food Cravings: I was bad and gave into a craving I have yearly at this time. Last year I did so well avoiding it because of my vitamins in the MNS Max 3, but can't take them all right now! SO...Starburst Jellybeans caught my eye as I ran into Publix to grab the ingredients I needed for Easter lunch. UGH...totally should NOT have done that. Good news OR bad news...the bag has one serving left. I am not going there again!

How’s Mama? Can't complain! Feeling good and about to feel even better tomorrow when I am on the beach hearing the waves crash and feeling the sun kiss my skin! My mama and I will leave out early to enjoy our girls' trip!

What I am looking forward to: I can't wait to figure out the whole nursery. I can see it, but now have to create it in real life. This always proves to be the hard part. My visions are always huge, and I have to focus in to accomplish them! So, we shall see!

Our Baby in Veggie/Fruit Terms:

At our last appt they said Vann's heartrate was 145 bpm and he weighed about 13 oz. That was a week ago, so he's at least a pound now! He's a kicker and I love it! I feel like I need to feel him all of the time, and I am ok with that. It's weird the lack of control you truly have over a baby that's growing inside of you. Ryan is good about reminding me to trust in God to take care of him and take care of myself!
Vann, we can't wait to see you. I had a sweet dream where you smiled so LARGE when I called you by your name and my heart melted. If you are half as cute as the baby in my dream we are in trouble! You have our hearts, and we can't wait to welcome you into our lives. Your daddy and I love each other very much and we are blessed that God gave us you. Be prepared to feel a ton of love surrounding you...it's BIG!
