So, as many of you that follow my blog know . . . I'm a teacher! I love it! I am married to the most wonderful guy, the Dossinator, and we have one baby. A furchild that is, and she is one spoiled pup. Her name is Lyla and she is a year and a few months. Ryan and I got married in October of 2009 and at times it feels like yesterday! He just brought me a grilled cheese and chicken noodle soup that hit the spot. I am sick!
How long have you been teaching?
You might not know...
You may not know that my second career choice was a weather lady (meteorologist). I didn't love science at the time, though, so that didn't work out. I think my name would be fabulous on the news though!
What are you looking forward to the most this year?
I am looking forward to a fresh start. The summer, to some, looks like a lazy holiday that only teachers have. I think it is absolutely necessary. Everyone that is around a teacher knows that they are much nicer, less stressed, and get a new motivation for life because of the summer. Near the end of summer . . . it's time! I couldn't wait to get back into routine this year and meet my students. It's nice getting a fresh start . . . who wouldn't like that!
What do you need to improve?
I would like to up my teaching skills in writing. It's not a complete passion of mine, but so far this year my kids and I have loved writing. We do it in all subjects, and it tells me so much about where they are in life and the curriculum. I hope we all learn from each other this year!
What teaching supplies can you *not* live without?
MY BRAIN! Seriously, as long as I keep that in tact I will be able to teach. What I love and feel grateful to have is my laptop and smartboard. It keeps us all on our toes and is certainly a luxury to pull up any resource and have it large enough for everyone to see as well as interact with it!
I also love my colorful Expo markers! Color makes life better!

Technically, this is my fourth year as a classroom teacher, but my fifth year in the system. I got a wild hair and moved my third year into the Instructional Technology Department. I loved it, but missed the amount of interaction with teachers and students that I didn't get as an ITS. I learned a lot about how the system works through that position and am thankful for the experience. I am glad to be back in the classroom with sweet kiddos again!

I just love that your brain is your favorite teaching supply! I seriously cracked up when I read that because I always feel like I'm losing my mind at school. If the kiddos weren't there to keep me on track sometimes, I don't know what I would do! I also teach fifth grade and I'm glad that Teacher Week brought me here!
